London, 18 July, 2022: HumanForest has embarked on a brand new initiative for the company, partnering with Islington Council to provide unlimited access to their eBikes for a whole year to support their cycle training academy.

Islington Council are working hard to make a ‘healthy, fair, accessible and enjoyable transport environment’ for its residents, which HumanForest are keen to facilitate. With its affordable and sustainable eBike service, HumanForest are the perfect partner to make Islington Council’s goal a reality. The partnership is the first of its kind for HumanForest and is the next step in its mission to encourage even more Londoners to make the switch to sustainable micro-mobility options.

Qualified cycle instructors will offer those who live, work or study in Islington up to two one-on-one training sessions on the eBikes throughout the year.

This new partnership follows in the footsteps of previous community events held by HumanForest, where they have offered eBike training sessions and route planning.

The partnership between HumanForest and Islington council is a natural one. They have a long-standing relationship having worked together since the eBike operator’s trial in 2020.  220,000 HumanForest trips have either started or finished in Islington and over 45,000 residents are members of the service.

Islington Council conduct their cycle training in line with Bikeability, the Government-recognised National Standard for cycle safety. HumanForest are proud to be supporting the initiative to ensure road safety is adhered to by everyone.

The eBike cycle training aligns with HumanForest’s goal of making sustainable micro-mobility accessible. Those who decide to take up cycling will continue to be supported by HumanForest’s cost-reducing incentives. HumanForest users that finish a trip of 10 minutes or less in one of their virtual Green Bays ride free of charge.

HumanForest helmets will also be available to participants.

Whether residents are looking to buy an eBike, needing extra support on their journeys or are simply just curious, HumanForest’s partnership with Islington council will cater to all requirements, and arm participants with the knowledge and expertise to cycle safely on London’s roads.

Councillor Rowena Champion, Executive Member for Environment, Air Quality and Transport, Islington: “Encouraging and enabling local people to make cleaner, greener, healthier choices about the way they travel is crucial to tackling the climate emergency, and to creating a net zero carbon Islington by 2030.

Our partnership with HumanForest will help to encourage more local people to take up cycling, and we look forward to using two of their eBikes to support cycle training in Islington.

Our cycle training scheme helps people of all abilities to develop the necessary skills to cycle safely in our borough, as an environmentally-friendly, healthy alternative to using motor vehicles.”
